Basic traffic course is mandatory* to start practice driving and start the remaining training. * If you are over 25, you only need the courses: "first aid" and "road traffic in the dark".
Driving lessons + theory test
You also have driving lessons at an authorized driving school. Here, the driving instructor prepares you for the challenges of traffic. Now it is also time to pass the theory test at the National Road Administration. You can take this from the age of 17.5.
Step assessments
During the training, you assess together with the driving instructor in step assessments whether the goals have been reached, before moving on to the next step.
Track safety course (Smooth driving)
Through the driving school, you will be registered for a safety course on the track. This is a mandatory part of the training, which takes place on a smooth practice track.
Road safety course
Consists of 2 classroom meetings and 2 longer driving trips. The first trip is mostly on country roads, while trip number two is both country roads, residential areas and the city.
Driving test
Finally comes the practical driving test. This is carried out by the Norwegian Public Roads Administration. Here you are responsible for having an approved car to drive with. We have that! When you pass this, you suddenly have the authority to drive all by yourself!
